Old Cigarette Packs

When did the warning "Cigarette SMoke Contains Carbon Monoxide" get replaced with a stronger message?
I have a pack of Maverick Full Flavor 100's that i recently purchased. They have been sitting on the shelf at work for at least 8 month if not longer. There is no experation date on them. However the Surgeons General warning reads "Cigarette Smoke Contains Carbon Monoxide". I know that most cigarette packs contain a much stronger warning. When did the carbon monoxide warning get replaced? I am hoping that this will give me some idea as to how old these cigarettes are. Also, if anyone has any information on the Maverick Cigarette company that would be helpful. I know that my store doesn't carry Mavericks anymore and this was the last pack so does anyone know if they went out of business? That might help me get a timeline as to how old these are.

FORGET WHAT THE WARNING SAYS OR WHAT IT MEANS AND STOP SMOKING FOR GODS SAKE BUT I KNOW THIS WARNING ON YOUR LUNGS SAYS "AM ABOUT TO FAIL" AND ITS YOUR FAULT.
