Cigarette Receptacle


How do you fix the cigarette lighter in a 1996 ford taurus sho?
i just bought the car about a month ago and i just found out the cigarette lighter doesn't work

my dad is suffering from a bad back and can't do much right now so i told him i would take care of it

he told me it is probably the fuse and i need to replace it

i don't know which fuse it is

ive seen the box i just don't know which fuse it is or where to get it

HELP!

The fuse for the cigarette lighter is fuse # 21. It's a 20 Amp fuse. (red I think, although I don't remember for sure) Just hold it up to the light, and see if the metal part inside is intact.



If the fuse is OK, the thing to do would be to check with a 12-volt test light or voltmeter to see if the receptacle is getting power. If it is, you probably just need a new lighter element.
