Eve Cigarettes

Why do some women smoke those very long, narrow cigarettes?
Some of them claim they are healthier than regular cigarettes. They claim it's like drinking beer instead of liquor. Is there any truth to this?

I haven't heard that one! Though slims do emit less stray smoke, and superslims far less smoke, posing less of a second-hand smoke hazard, as well as a less smokey an environment if the smoking area is indoors or inside an automobile.

The cigarettes you're referring to, including but not limited to Virginia Slims, Eve, and Misty are slimmer and longer than many other cigarettes, therefore having what many style-conscious women consider to be an elegant appearance. Length and slimness - this is also why many women grow long nails (or wear nail tips in my case) and wear high heels. The original "feminine" cigarettes, Virginia Slims, targeted women during the "womens lib" movement, who identified themselves as liberated, independent, and modern, emphasizing that women now had their own cigarette. Later, Eves would also target women, but strictly women content to be feminine. By the early 90s, Mistys would be the first bargain brand which targeted women. All featured stylish packs, and the cigarettes themselves were slimmer, and a minimum of 100mm in length. Ultimately, a 120mm length would be available, further appealing to style-consciouis women.

Back to your theory of healthier - Virginia Slims Luxury Lights 120's have just about the same amount of tar and nic as do a pack of Benson & Hedges full-flavor 100's. And even for brands like Eve Lights 120's, which truly are light, it's been proven that lights are not necessarily less unhealthy than full-flavors. In many cases, where the smoker will more deeply inhale lights to get the same effect as smoking a full-flavor, lights can be more unhealthy.
