Yes, they will be banned. I imagine that the stores will start running out of stock soon. I've heard that the companies might start making them with a tobacco paper or something similar so that they will fall under the "cigar" category. Still, that's going to be different from what you're smoking now.

If you like your current smokes, I'd buy as many as you possibly can as soon as you can. If you wait too long, you'll be too late.

For anyone who isn't familiar with the bill that Obama happily signed into law, it is HR 1256. The part that refers to clove cigarettes is "Prohibits a cigarette or any of its components from containing as a constituent or additive any artificial or natural flavor (other than tobacco or menthol) or any herb or spice (including strawberry, grape, orange, clove, cinnamon, and vanilla) that is a characterizing flavor of the tobacco product or tobacco smoke."

This site gives more information about it. Half way down the page (near the maps) are links that will tell you which congressmen and Senators voted for this ban. There is a link for the House and the Senate and both say "view votes". If you don't like the way they voted, vote them out of office next year.

I'll bet that there will be an active black market for those products. Personally, I don't buy things that way but I have friends who no longer buy their cigarettes from stores. I don't think that banning clove cigarettes will make them disappear......

After all, marijuana is banned too yet widely available.
