Ebay Cigarettes

How can I get the smell of cigarette smoke out of a wedding veil?
I bought a wedding veil off of ebay. It is new, with tags, but arrived smelling like cigarrette smoke. It didn't even occur to me to ask if it was from a smoke free home. Is there any way to get it out? I don't know if these things can be washed... or dry cleaned. It really doesn't say...

As a retailer, I can tell you that whomever packed the garment had a smoking household and was smoking when packing same --

Let it air out first -- hang on hanger with clothes pin and let it hang at a open window, if you have time (based on wedding date) --

(2) Place in a pillowcase, with a Bounce tissue sheet, (only if detachable) or one of those dry cleaning bags, in a pillowcase, and put on a medium heat, and in dryer for 2 minutes and see if that helps -- if it does -- go a little longer to 4 to 5 minutes -- this will save on dry cleaning expenses --

(3) however, you can try the Frebreeze for fabric at Walmart only if the fabric is specified on the directions, and lightly spray on the veil and hang the veil on a hanger and let it air dry. Read directions to see if Tulle is on the fabric list to use this on. Be uniform when spraying the veil not to put spots on it

(4) or, take a bounce tissue with scent and wipe down the veil and hang in air.

or -- (5) ***take to dry cleaners and have them spot clean the veil only. Hopefully, this is a detachable veil. If not, cleaners will have to spot clean the veil part -- worth your while, and safer.

Remember, tulle is nylon, and high heat will effect it -- steam by hanging in the bathroom during shower, may help -- it will get the wrinkles out.

Hope some of these ideas help you. I understand your situation. Even if veil is not detachable, wrap a white towel around the headpiece or foam strip around it to protect the piece in the pillow case and not have heat melt the glue used to put beading on with. Low to medium heat -- short periods of time.
