What are some ways to get wireless internet without going into a coffee shop?
I've saw a chip that you could plug into your laptop and you'll have internet access without waiting for a wireless signal. I was wondering if anyone knows what it is?

You can get a tiny little modem that plugs into your lap top from Verizon and Cricket, for sure and there are some other companies that are now doing it too. I have had one on my laptop for a year now and could not dream of living without it anymore! It is about half the size of a cigarette pack, plugs right into your USB port and creates its own internet connection. They range from free to 99 bucks, depending on which one you choose and from 35 to 99 per month, depending on your provider. You can get this little modem or a card that goes into your laptop and does the same thing. They are now building laptops with this already in them so if you are in the market for a new one you might think about this option. They allow you to try it for three days first and if you want it you pay for whichever package you choose. You can also roam your neighborhood and see who has internet and is not password protected then leach it off of them! Anyhow, the modems are great and I love it - if you can afford to do it then I say you will be happy with it too.
