Is it illegal to take cigarettes to sweden from england?

Sorry, no, you have to be 18 to bring cigarettes into Sweden. Also, it's illegal to sell tobacco products in Sweden to anyone under 18.



Also, there's no point bringing cigarettes from the UK to Sweden - you can't buy duty free ones because you're travelling within the EU, and the retail price in Sweden is actually lower than in the UK - a packet of Marlboro will cost £6.12 at Tesco and only £4.25 at a Swedish ICA food store (less in some cut price tobacco stores). The sad thing is that many popular English makes are nonexistent or hard to get, such as Dunhill King Size, Silk Cut, Rothman's, B&H.



You won't get into trouble for trying to buy tobacco in Sweden if you're under age. The cashier will just demand a photo ID, and all you do is smile and say sorry, you forgot to bring it along, and walk out without the goods. Some corner shops are less vigilant - if the cashier looks foreign (Arab/Indian/Southern European), they may take you for 18 and perhaps won't bother to ask for an ID... ;-)
