What do doctors do to you at a physical?
Im 14 & A girl. & I drink alot & smoke cigarettes & other stuff & i am sexually active. Will the doctor know that i do any of that stuff cause im going with my mom & she will kill me if she found out any of that stuff. So yeaa what do they do to you & stuff?



P.S Im not tryna seek attention im just really worried & nervous.

Yes they will be able to tell. If you do not want your mom to find out, you could ask the doctor if she could leave. He will make her leave because of doctor-patient confidentiality.



If the doctor asks you these things. Do not lie to him!! He is asking about it for your health and safety. If you are sexually active tell him and he will give you an STD test. You will also have to get checked out by a OB/GYN because it is important to your health that you do that. The doctor is not trying to embarass you.



Most likely your mom will figure it out anyway. You could just come out and tell her. She will be mad, but you are her child and she has obligations to still care for you.





Doctors Visit:



You will walk into the doctors. They will make you fill out paperwork. Fill it out honestly. If it asks you if you smoke or drink. Say yes. It is really bad to lie about these things because you can develop serious health complications in the future if your doctor doesn't know about it (some medications will kill you if you smoke or drink because the chemicals react badly.) You will wait a little more and then the nurse will call you into the doctors office.



They will take your height, weight, look into your mouth, ears, and eyes, they will take your blood pressure, test your reflexes and then leave you a gown and step out of the room. You can ask your mom to wait outside while you get changed. (Some doctors do not make you get into their gowns. They start to do that during teenage years, but it depends on what the physical is for)



The doctor will knock to make sure you are decent and come in. He will look over your information that the nurse took and that you filled out. He will ask you some of the questions over again if he needs to make sure. Your mom will be much madder if she finds out all of those things in the doctors office. It would be easier to tell her upfront. He will do a few of the tests the nurse did again if the readings were off.



He will ask you when you started your period and if you are sexually active. You need to tell him the truth. He will take some blood (only pinches for a few seconds) and send it into the lab. He may ask you if you are comfortable with him checking out your boobs and pubic area or you could ask for a girl doctor. They are just checking for breast cancer by feeling for lumps. They do not judge you. Then they will gently feel your pubic bone and make sure there are no lumps. They will press on your stomach and listen to your heart and lungs. Then they will let you get dressed and that is it.



There is no need to be scared or nervous. These people are here for your health and will do the best to keep you healthy.
