You ever buy someone a carton of cigarettes as a gift?
I had an uncle who enjoyed Lucky Strikes, but he rarely had the money to buy a whole carton at once so I got him a cartoon as a gift a couple of times. Of course, the cigs eventually did him in.

OMG, you need to be a bit more imaginative than that, especially when buying gifts! I can see that you had all the best intentions in buying him a much need and wanted gift, but come on Reality.
